Some people limit God without even realizing it. They believe there is a God, and they believe He can heal. Their stumbling block is in believing that He will use His power to bring healing to them. You limit God when you question whether or not He will heal you. When you don’t hold onto His promises, you will sink into doubt and unbelief. You can choose to live by your feelings, or you can choose to live by faith. The just shall live by faith (Galatians 3:11).

The Gospel of Mark tells of a father whose son was being tormented by a spirit, and he was in bad shape. The spirit would cause the boy to foam at the mouth and gnash his teeth. The spirit would even try to destroy the boy by causing him to throw himself into fire or into water.

The father had enough faith to believe his son could be healed because he took his son to the disciples to receive prayer, but they were not able to help him. Imagine what that father must have been going through at that time.

The father was desperate, so he took his son on to Jesus and begged Jesus to help him crying, But if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us (Mark 9:22). The father had faith, or he would not have taken his son to Jesus; but that one little word “if” showed that he had some doubt in his heart. So Jesus reasoned with the father to give him hope and encouragement saying, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).

Jesus was telling the father that nothing is too hard for God. He just had to believe with his whole heart no matter what the circumstances were. The man was honest-hearted and said with tears in his eyes, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief (Mark 9:24). He recognized he was limiting God with his unbelief; and when he asked for help, Jesus delivered his son from that spirit. He [Jesus] rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him (Mark 9:25).

If you are struggling to receive a miracle, examine your heart to see if you have any doubt, fear or unbelief because those things limit God and tie His hands. If you aren’t sure, ask the Lord to help you believe without wavering. You can’t go by what you see or what the circumstances appear to be. Just believe that God can do the impossible.

The Walls Came Down

Joshua didn’t limit God at Jericho, and God did the impossible. That city was surrounded by very high walls, so God instructed Joshua to have the Israelite army march around the walls of the city one time each day for six days in silence. Joshua said, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth (Joshua 6:10).

On the seventh day, the army was to march around the walls seven times. Afterward, the priests were to blow their trumpets. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout (Joshua 6:5). Then those great walls came tumbling down.

If God were to give you instructions like that, would you obey them, or would you limit God? In the natural, that plan didn’t look like it would produce any results. How could Israel defeat Jericho by simply marching around the walls of the city in silence?

The answer is that it doesn’t matter what things look like. God can see the big picture, and all we need to do is obey Him. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8,9).

Because the Israelites obeyed the Word of the Lord and stepped out in faith, great results took place at Jericho. Through their obedience, God was able to give them the victory over the enemy.

God Will Do the Impossible

When the enemy comes against you, do you limit God and follow your emotions to handle things your own way? When the walls of life are in front of you, do you get quiet with the Lord and seek Him for divine direction? I’m sure the people of Jericho thought the Israelites were wasting their time walking around the city because they didn’t think anything could penetrate their city’s great walls

When you, as a child of God, are faced with what seems to be a great obstacle in your life, people will be watching to see what you do. When they see you depending on God for your deliverance, they may think you’re wasting your time; but when you don’t limit God and put your trust in Him 100 percent, the Bible says, With God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).

In man’s eyes, it seems impossible that the walls of Jericho could come down just by marching around them; but God has a host of angels ready to do battle for you if you will only believe. The captain of God’s host appeared to Joshua as a man with his sword drawn. And Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant (Joshua 5:13,14)?

The Israelite army and the people of Jericho could not see God’s host of angels, but they were there just waiting for the priests to blow the trumpets so they could perform a great miracle. God will be the one to knock down your walls of life if you will let Him. The key is not to limit God.

A Miracle Baby

The Shunammite woman in II Kings 4 is a wonderful example of not limiting God. Every time Elisha and his servant passed through the woman’s town, she would invite them to her house and feed them. The woman perceived Elisha to be a man of God, so she and her husband built a special chamber in their house for him to stay in when he passed through.

Elisha found out the woman did not have a child, and he wanted to bless her for her kindness; so through the Spirit of God, he told her, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son (II Kings 4:16). And that’s exactly what happened. That Shunammite woman gave birth to a baby boy.

At first, she doubted and said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid (II Kings 4:16). She didn’t have the faith to believe in the impossible, but she had great respect for the man of God; and through his prayer, she did receive that miracle baby boy. She must have been so excited to hold that little boy in her arms. She learned through that miracle that nothing is impossible with God. You must believe that too.

A Boy Raised to Life

Later, that woman’s faith was severely tested. One day, the boy was out in the field where the father was working, when his head started hurting. A few of the workers carried the boy back to his mother. He was not feeling well at all, so he laid on her lap. He sat on her knees till noon, and then died (II Kings 4:20).

That mother had a choice to make—reach out to God for the impossible or give up and believe there was no hope for her son. Thankfully, she chose to believe in the impossible. She laid her son’s lifeless body on Elisha’s bed in the room she and her husband had built for him. She had faith in the anointing of the man of God that was on that bed. Then she shut the door behind her and went out. That woman didn’t want anyone to know her son had died because she was focused on getting a miracle for him. When you are seeking a miracle, you also must shut the door on anything that could hinder you from receiving.

The woman then called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again (II Kings 4:22). She was so determined to receive a miracle for her son that she didn’t even tell her husband that their son was dead. When he asked her why she was going, she simply answered, It shall be well (II Kings 4:23).

That woman had all confidence in Elisha’s prayers, and she believed nothing is impossible with God. She even told her servant, slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee (II Kings 4:24). She wasn’t concerned about her own wellbeing; she was focused on getting to the man of God for her son.

When the woman finally met up with Elisha and told him what had happened, he went with her back to her house. When they arrived, Elisha went right in and prayed for the boy. And the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes (II Kings 4:35). God did the impossible and gave that boy life.

Step Out in Faith

Jesus said, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 18:19). When the boy died, the Shunammite woman was determined to receive a miracle for him. She didn’t limit God, and she didn’t let anything stop her from going to Elisha.

When bad things come your way, you need to have faith like the Shunammite woman had and say, “It shall be well.” You have to give God a chance. If God can raise someone from the dead, why would you think He can’t heal you or supply your need? The Shunammite woman didn’t let anything or anyone hinder her from going after a miracle for her son.

There is a man in our congregation who was diagnosed with a rare, incurable cancer, and the doctors couldn’t do anything for him. His only hope for survival was a complete miracle from God, so he focused on receiving that miracle by trusting in the anointed prayers from the man of God, Rev. Angley.

That man told only his close loved ones about his cancer. He shut everyone else out, so to speak, because he didn’t want to allow any doubt or discouragement to get in. His actions showed that, like the Shunammite woman, he was believing that all would be well; and he pressed on in faith, believing in the impossible. No matter what the doctors told him about his case, he didn’t limit God; and now, he is cancer free. Praise God!

The Pot Did Not Run Dry

Again I ask you, why limit God? Nothing is too hard for our Lord spiritually, physically or financially. All you need to do is believe. If you have a son or daughter who is not serving the Lord, don’t limit God and give up on that child. The story of the prodigal son is in the Bible for a reason, and God made a way for that son to come home to his father. Do you really believe the Lord can bring home your child who is out in the night? There is no limit to the power of God.

In II Kings, there is a story of a widow woman who goes to Elisha and says, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen (II Kings 4:1). That woman had already lost her husband, and the creditor wanted to take her two sons as well and make them slaves.

Elisha asked the woman, What hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil (II Kings 4:2). The woman was poor and didn’t have much, but Elisha knew there was no limit to what God could do for her; and he told her, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out (II Kings 4:3-5).

The woman did exactly what Elisha told her to. When she and her sons shut the door, they were shutting out anyone who could hinder them from believing the man of God. Children of God today need to do the same thing.

Think about how excited that woman must have been when she filled that first pot with oil and her pot was still full. Then her sons brought her another pot and another pot, and she filled them all. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed (II Kings 4:6).

The woman then went to Elisha for more instructions; and he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest (II Kings 4:7). Again, she obeyed those instructions. She did not limit God, and she received a financial miracle.

God wants to take care of you too, but you have to trust Him and obey His instructions. The woman had told Elisha that she had nothing in the house but a pot of oil. No doubt she thought that single pot of oil was not much to work with, but God used it to make a great miracle.

Be Born Again and Made Whole

When oil is mentioned in the Bible, it represents the Holy Ghost; and there is no limit to the oil of the Spirit a person can have. Friend, you are the vessel, and you need to be filled to the brim with the power of the Holy Ghost; and you can be if you are clean, pure and holy. If there is any sin in your life, now is the time to ask Jesus into your heart and be cleansed by His divine blood. Then you can go on and get your vessel filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit.

Pray with me now and say, Oh, God, save my soul. Forgive me for my sins. I have come home to serve you for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in. Amen. If you meant that prayer, you have Jesus Christ in your heart.

Now, let’s get your miracle for you. Nothing is impossible for God. He made you; He can heal you. The Bible says, The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15). I am a believer, and we’re going to pull down Heaven together. Expect God to move for you in a glorious way as I pray: Lord, Heavenly Father, I call down this great anointing upon the people. Heal, in the holy, blood name of Jesus. Heal them, in the holy, blood name of Jesus Christ I pray. Break their bondages and set them free. Amen. Friend, look for every sign of improvement and always give God the praise, the honor and the glory.

Now, you need to go on to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and become filled with the Spirit. All you have to do is praise and glorify the Lord. It’s your responsibility to be a yielded vessel. As you say one glory after another, the power will come upon you. As you continue to yield, He will come in and take over your tongue and speak in a Heavenly language.
