The Truth About Salvation and the Holy Ghost
by Ernest Angley Ministries
The Bible says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). When Adam and Eve sinned, it placed a curse of sin on all humanity; and every person is born with the sinful, Adamic nature. That is why the Bible says, Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me (Psalm 51:5).
Because Adam and Eve failed, Jesus had to come to save us from the deadly consequences of sin. That is what Bible salvation is all about, and no one will see Heaven without it. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Ye must be born again (John 3:3,7).
Being born again the Bible way has nothing to do with being physically born again as a baby. When you are saved, you are born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever (I Peter 1:23). True salvation comes through the divine blood of Jesus, and it transforms you from an old, sinful person into a new, pure and holy creature in Christ. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).
THE DIVINE BLOOD CLEANSES
Jesus, the Son of God, came to Earth as a human being just like you and me, but He had divine blood in His veins. Then He willingly shed that divine blood on Calvary for the salvation of all humanity. Only through the divine blood of Jesus can your soul be cleansed of sin. The Bible says, In whom [Jesus] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7). The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin (I John 1:7).
No person can save you, and your works cannot save you. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9).
With the divine blood in your soul, you become a child of God. As many as received him [Jesus], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). That makes you an heir to everything Heaven has to offer. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together (Romans 8:17).
ACCEPT JESUS NOW
The Bible says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9,10). To be born again, you must admit you are a sinner and confess your sins to the Lord with a heart of true, sorrowful repentance. Then the blood of Jesus will cleanse you and make you a brand-new creature in Christ.
If you don’t have Jesus in your heart, pray the sinner’s prayer right now: Oh, God, save my soul. I know I have sinned against you, and I am so sorry! Forgive me. I have come home, and I will serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come in! If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; and He is yours. Praise Him and rejoice in the salvation of the Lord!
YOU NEED THE HOLY GHOST
Once you are saved, you must go on to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Salvation will take you to Heaven when you die, but only the power of the Holy Ghost working within you will change you when Jesus comes on Rapture Day. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:52). Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20). The power working within is the power of the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost is promised to every born-again Christian who wants Him. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our god shall call (Acts 2:39). God promised He would give the Holy Ghost to those who obey Him. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32). You must obey the Lord and receive the Holy Ghost baptism.
Jesus is our example, and He received the Holy Ghost when He lived on Earth as a man. John was a witness to Christ’s baptism. I [John] saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him (1:32). Jesus then commanded the disciples to receive the Holy Ghost. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me (Acts 1:4). The disciples obeyed that command, and they tarried until they received the Spirit. You must do the same thing.
THE SPIRIT WILL SPEAK
When the disciples received the Holy Ghost, they spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). Notice it says, “as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Many people believe in speaking in tongues at will, but that is of the flesh and the devil. When you are truly baptized in the Spirit, He will speak through you in an unknown tongue. The words will be His words and not yours.
After the Day of Pentecost, all those who received the Holy Ghost spoke in tongues as well. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed...heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God (Acts 10:44-46). And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues (Acts 19:6).
The Bible never says that the manner in which people receive the baptism has changed. Speaking in tongues was the first evidence of the baptism then, and it is still the first evidence today.
THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST
The power of the Holy Ghost will make you a witness for the Lord. Jesus told the disciples, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8). Holy Ghost power brings about divine signs, wonders and miracles. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18).
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, and He comes to live within you. For he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:17). He will give you understanding of the Word of truth and be your teacher and guide every day. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).
We are fighting the supernatural powers of the devil in this final hour, and only through the power of the Holy Ghost will you be able to stand against him. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Without the Holy Ghost, it will be hard for you to remain saved and live holy before the Lord in this sin-cursed world.
RECEIVE THE SPIRIT NOW
The Holy Spirit comes into a yielded, humble heart of praise, so get off to yourself and begin praising the Lord with your whole heart. Focus on Him, and send up one praise after another until the Spirit comes in and speaks through you in a heavenly language. You will never make it in this last and final hour without supernatural power from On High.
