Elijah was a great prophet of God, and God used him to perform mighty miracles. Elijah knew God was going to take him home, so he told Elisha if he saw him when he went away, he would receive a double portion of the power God had given him; and that is exactly what happened. Then God used Elisha to perform even more miracles than He had used Elijah to perform.

At one time, the sons of the prophets realized that the place they were staying was getting too small, so they asked Elisha if they could build a bigger place by the Jordan River. And he answered, Go ye. And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go. So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood. But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: And he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed (II Kings 6:2–5). It is distressing when you lose something you have borrowed.

And the man of God [Elisha] said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim (II Kings 6:6). It is against the laws of nature for something made of iron to rise to the top of the water, yet that is what happened.

Notice that Elisha didn’t use a dead stick from off the ground. He cut a stick that had life in it, and that represented the faith of God. He put that stick in the water; and even though the axe head was on the muddy bottom of the river, it floated to the top. Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it (II Kings 6:7). That was an all-out miracle.

Live by Faith

Those sons of the prophets had a need; and whenever there is a need, God is ready to meet it with a miracle. God is interested in the things that concern His children; and as soon as you realize that, it will be so much easier for you to receive what you need from Him. That axe head may not have seemed like much to some folks, but that man was really concerned about it; so the man of God used his faith and performed a miracle.

Some of you have been on muddy bottom for so long, and the devil is telling you the iron can’t come to the top for you; but Jesus said the devil was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth...for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44). Today is your day for a miracle if you will let it be; but if you are living by your feelings, God won’t be able to move for you.

You have to live by faith and believe. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). When you are justified before God and living in the truth, you won’t live in your feelings. If you do, you will not receive the perfect miracles God wants you to have.

You can’t doubt God and expect to receive from Him because He can’t work with doubt. Faith in God is what does the work. It is a gift from God. God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). You have that measure of faith, but it is up to you to use it. Calvary means victory, and there is no victory in feelings.

Stop Living in Feelings

Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:20). Feelings will never move mountains or bring help to you in the valleys, but faith will.

If you want a miracle, stop listening to the devil’s voice of feelings. He will tell you that you don’t feel God, but you can feel Him through faith. Feelings are filled with doubt and fear; but the Bible says, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear (I John 4:18).

Again, the Bible says, Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him (Hebrews 10:38). You cannot claim the promises of God when He is not pleased with you, and you can’t claim them in your feelings. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). Living in the Word is living by faith. Then you can ask God to fulfill His perfect will in your life.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:6,7). It is not really your faith wavering; it is you. Faith says God will perform a miracle. Faith is thankful and gives praise unto the most high God for all that He does.

The Power of the Cross

Use the faith Moses, Abraham and others used and let the iron swim for you today. Moses got the anointing in a simple rod at the burning bush, and he carried that miracle rod with him. It was just wood; but when God used it, miracles took place.

Moses used that rod to separate the waters of the Red Sea at a point where it was twelve miles across and over eighty feet deep. And the LORD said unto Moses...lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea (Exodus 14:15,16). And that is exactly what happened. The iron swam against all the laws of nature for those people.

After crossing the Red Sea, the children of Israel traveled for three days and found no water. They finally found water at Marah, but it was so bitter they couldn’t drink it. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet (Exodus 15:24,25). That tree was a type of Jesus and the Old Rugged Cross; so when Moses cast it into the water, the water was instantly purified. The people could drink the water without any worries.

The Cross of Jesus will sweeten the life of all who will accept it. It completely changes them and makes them into new creatures in Christ. Then they can say as the Psalmist did, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

You Must Believe

The Lord did many mighty wonders in Old Testament days, yet those people didn’t have the opportunity of having the same reality in God that we do. Jesus had not yet come to Earth, so those people didn’t have Him in their heart; and they didn’t have the Holy Ghost living within either. They couldn’t walk and talk with the Lord like we can today, yet they received so much.

Then God proved His great love for man when He sent His Son, Jesus, to Earth to die for us. Before Jesus willingly gave His life, He performed many miracles. He also brought the New Covenant that would make us new creatures in Christ, and we are still living under that covenant of grace today. Because of that, we should be able to use more faith and believe God for more things than those who lived in Old Testament days did; yet many people today tie God’s hands by not believing and trusting in what the Lord has made available.

Stop planning your life according to the laws of nature and expect miracles. We believe in good doctors and medicines; but when doctors have done all they can do, you have to use your faith and trust God. You can’t just say you’re putting your trust in God; you have to believe it with all your heart if you want God to move for you.

Honest Hearted or Dishonest Hearted

Thomas didn’t believe Jesus had been resurrected from the dead until he saw Him, but he was honest about his unbelief. The Lord will reveal Himself to honest-hearted doubters today too; but dishonest-hearted doubters won’t even believe in the miracles of God when they do see them. The Lord will not waste His time on people like that, and you shouldn’t either.

The Pharisees were examples of dishonest-hearted doubters. And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him [Jesus], seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation (Mark 8:11,12).

Jesus knew those hypocrites didn’t really want a sign, and they had no intention of believing in Jesus. They just wanted a reason to criticize Him more. Many people today are the same way, and that is why God isn’t moving in any great way in a lot of churches.

An honest-hearted doubter will be amazed to see God perform a miracle, and seeing God save a soul will touch their heart. When God performs the impossible and the iron swims in someone’s life, the honest-hearted doubter will rejoice.

God is still performing miracles today whether people believe it or not. Those who don’t believe it are cheating themselves out of God’s best for them because they won’t even give Him an opportunity to work for them.

Keep Your Eyes on God

God has great love, compassion and mercy for all people, and He wants to make miracles for them; so don’t let anyone’s thoughts or opinions hinder you. You must get your eyes off of people if you want the iron to swim in your life.

Unfortunately, some people have denied the power of God for so long that they doubt everything about Him. They fight the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and they even fight the Holy Ghost Himself. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away (II Timothy 3:5). When people begin talking against God’s power, simply turn away from them and embrace the fact that Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8).

No one can keep you from getting a miracle but you. No one can keep the iron from swimming in your life but you. The axe head will come to the top for you again and again if you keep your faith in God. You must keep your eyes on the Cross and what the power of that Cross can do to deliver people from sin and heal afflicted bodies.

God tells you, as a child of God, what you can and cannot do; but He won’t stand over you and be ready to cut off your head if you fail. God loves you. If you stumble and fall, He will pick you up and help you. When you fail and sincerely say, “Lord, forgive me,” He will hear you and forgive you.

Use Your Faith to Be Saved

Jesus carried that Cross all the way to Calvary for you and me, and He died for our sins. The iron will never swim for you unless you accept Him into your heart and become born again. Say the sinner’s prayer with me right now: Oh, God, save my soul! I am so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home. I have doubted your love, your truth and your grace many times but never again. Forgive me, Lord. You said if I would repent with all my heart, you would forgive me and save me through the divine blood of Jesus; and I am repenting right now. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!

If you meant that prayer, you can now say, “Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!” Prayer, fasting and studying the Word will keep you on the straight and narrow. Then one day, you will lift up your eyes and behold the city whose builder and maker is God. How wonderful!

Use Your Faith for a Miracle

Jesus is the healer. He went to the whipping post and was beaten almost to death for our sicknesses and diseases. His precious blood stripes brought healing for all who will believe. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). If you don’t believe that, there is no need to ask people to pray for you. It would be a waste of time.

By using your faith in that divine blood, you can touch yourself in the name of Jesus and receive a miracle. When your hands are pure and clean and connected to a holy heart, God can move for you; and it has happened again and again.

God also moves for so many every day through the blest cloth. Through faith, it is just like God Himself touching you; and miracles and healings of all kinds take place. So there is healing through Jesus for you, if you will just believe. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15). Many thousands have been healed of AIDS, cancer, blindness, deafness, diabetes, lung trouble, heart trouble, leprosy, paralysis and so much more. Faith coupled with the love of God did it.

Lord, I bring the people to you today. Your miracle power can deliver them from any bondage, heal them of any disease and set them free from any affliction. Heal! in the all-powerful, blood-name of Jesus! Heal! Feel that miracle power flowing into you now and have no doubt that God is moving for you.
