Help God Make a Miracle in Your Life
by Chris Machamer
June 2025
It is true that the great God of the universe needs our help to make miracles and healings, and I’m going to prove it to you by the Word of God. First, you must believe that our God is a miracle-working God. At Grace Cathedral, we believe. The theme of this Jesus ministry has always been, “We don’t just believe in miracles; we depend on them.”
God’s miraculous supply can strengthen your faith in God; give you greater reality in Him; and bring good health to your soul, mind and body. Only through God’s miraculous supply can the Gospel go to the whole world in so many ways in this final hour.
The Bible declares, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). The miraculous things Jesus did yesterday on Earth, He still does today through His believers. Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He gave His followers this great commission: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).
Jesus then went on to say, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). He declared, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12). That means we will do the Lord’s works on a greater scale and reach more people than He was able to reach. And it will be done because we have so many more means of getting the Gospel out than Jesus did when He was on Earth.
God Promises Miracles
Miracles are absolutely real. I have received many in my own life through this Jesus ministry for my soul, mind, body and finances. At Grace Cathedral, we believe in miracles because we believe in God.
Here is a definition of a miracle that really fits this sermon: an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. The Word tells us that children of God are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). Part of a child of God’s heritage is having divine intervention in their life through the power in the divine blood of Jesus, yet there are Christians who don’t understand why miracles don’t manifest in their life.
Miracles are promised in God’s Word, but many people do not know that they must help God bring about those miracles. Every promise in the Word is conditional; so for God to intervene and fulfill a promise for you, you must meet the conditions that will enable Him to do that. The Lord needs our cooperation to be able to produce His miracles for us and others.
Only Believe
The Bible gives many examples of people who helped God make miracles. One of those is a man who brought his epileptic son to Jesus’ disciples, but they were not able to help the boy. Then the man immediately turned to Jesus for help saying, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit…I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not (Mark 9:17,18).
The man told Jesus about the boy’s condition and then said, If thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us (Mark 9:22). But Jesus turned that “if” right back on him and said, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). The man cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief (Mark 9:24).
It took great humility for that man to confess before Jesus and those people that there was a part of him that was contaminated by unbelief, but he realized the unbelief had to go for the Lord to be able to perform the miraculous. That confession helped Jesus make a miracle. Then immediately, Jesus went into action and delivered the boy from that epileptic spirit.
Today, Jesus is saying to us through His Word, Only believe (Mark 5:36). Whether you need a miracle of supply or a physical miracle, Jesus has it all if you will only believe. The Word of God is filled with promises to cover every need we could ever have in this life—promises for soul, mind, and body and promises for spiritual, physical, and financial. The Bible tells us, And the Word [Jesus] was made flesh, and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Putting your trust in the Word is the same as putting your trust in Jesus.
Don’t Embrace Wrong Thoughts
When trouble arises or you have a great need, don’t bow to fear. Don’t let the devil put his thoughts into your mind to try to convince you that God does not love you or care about your need. If you do, you will be defeated from the start and get nowhere when it comes to receiving your miracle. You are not helping God make a miracle in your life; and in fact, you are actually hindering Him.
The Word of God tells us that when we have a need, we are to present ourselves before the throne of grace. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Every child of God has the privilege of going before God’s throne of grace and favor.
The devil will always try to work on your imagination and cause you to embrace all sorts of thoughts that aren’t true. His thoughts can seem so real and be so powerful that it seems as if his thoughts are truth when they are not; but if you let those thoughts take root and contaminate your mind, they will tie God’s hands and hinder Him from moving for you.
God cannot perform the miraculous for you when you embrace false thoughts. The Bible instructs, Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God [the Word and promises of God], and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (II Corinthians 10:5).
You can’t let just any old thought roll through your head, yet some Christians allow their minds to become the devil’s playground. Thought after thought of torment, fear, untruth and seduction roll through their heads; and then they wonder why their prayers are not being answered and why promises are not being fulfilled for them. It’s because there is more devil in their minds than there is the Word of God. The Lord can’t work with a mind like that.
Feed Your Mind the Word
You must live by the promises in the Word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Just as you have to feed your body food every day to keep it healthy and functioning properly; you have to daily feed your mind, spirit and soul the Word of God to keep them healthy and functioning properly. The Lord needs to have your cooperation to work in you and through you whenever you have a need.
When you allow the devil to use your imagination, he will contaminate your mind with untruths. They will breed fear, doubt, misgivings, resentment, anger and so many other ungodly things. It’s amazing what the devil’s mind battles can produce in good, godly people; so you can’t allow the devil to have any space in your mind or use your imagination.
You have to get rid of any thought that is contrary to the Word of God through fervent dedication to the Lord. The more of God you put into your mind, the better off you will be. The less of Him you put in your mind, the more trouble you’re going to have.
Give the Battle to the Lord
The situation will not be the same every time you have a need. There will be times when you seem to have all the faith in the world, and you’ll get what you need from the Lord right away. At other times, it will seem like you are constantly battling with the devil.
When fear, doubt, worry and wrong imagi-nations keep pounding your mind, you have to turn your mind over to the Lord and His Word saying, “Lord, I believe. I have received from you again and again, but the devil is battling me so much this time. Help my unbelief.” Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up (James 4:10).
You must work with God to untie His hands and help Him make a miracle in your life, knowing that God’s love and faith cannot work with fear and doubt. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Don’t accept anything that God is not giving to you.
If your mind is not sound today, the problem is the devil, people or self. It takes a mind sound in the Word of God and in His love for divine faith to work. If your mind is scattered with doubt, fear and unbelief, divine faith cannot work; and you can’t please God. But without faith it is impossible to please him (Hebrews 11:6). How do you expect God to perform miracles in your life if you’re not pleasing Him?
Never Limit God
The Bible gives a perfect example of what I’m speaking about. Jesus performed so many mighty miracles when He was on Earth; yet when He returned to His hometown of Nazareth, the people had only questions. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him (Mark 6:3).
The Bible goes on to say, And he [Jesus] could there do no mighty work…because of their unbelief (Mark 6:5,6). All Jesus could do was lay hands on a few sick folks to receive healing, and that was it. Doubt and fear greatly limit the work of the great God of the universe. Jesus said, According to your faith be it unto you (Matthew 9:29). Some of those people placed so many limitations on Jesus.
The first chapter of Genesis shows how God works when there are no human limitations placed upon Him. Read of all the miraculous things God did when His hands were completely untied. He spoke the sun, the moon, the galaxies and the trillions of stars into existence. He created all the animals and nature. Oh, the limitless power of God and what He will do for us when we don’t limit Him in any way!
Peter Used Divine Faith
Out of the billions of people who have lived on Earth, the Bible tells of only two who ever walked the water—Jesus and Peter. It’s physically impossible to walk on water, yet it happened because Peter helped Jesus make a miracle.
The disciples were out on the sea during a raging storm when Jesus came to them walking on the water. Peter cried, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water (Matthew 14:28). That is not a normal request from anyone in that situation; but Jesus said, Come (Matthew 14:29). Immediately, Peter stepped out of the boat and he walked on the water, to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:29). At that time, Peter had divine faith in operation; and he walked the water just like the Son of God.
If you have a great need in your life and the storms are raging all around, it’s time to get off your boat of fear, frustration and doubt and obey the voice of Jesus. Help God make a miracle for you just like Peter did. Launch out in divine love and faith, and keep your eyes on Jesus without ever looking back. But learn a lesson from Peter: As soon as he got his eyes off Jesus and on to the storm around him, his faith was gone; and he sank like a rock.
Sometimes, you have to use what Rev. Angley used to call reckless faith and launch out into the promises of God no matter how things look. Trust God completely and don’t listen to what others say. Those other disciples may have been asking Peter, “What are you doing? Are you really getting out of this boat? You’re crazy!” Nevertheless, none of the other disciples followed Peter because they didn’t have divine faith operating at that time.
Faith can turn to doubt and fear in no time, and God’s power will be rendered void in your life. That’s why you can’t look at people or circumstances. You have to keep your eyes on Jesus. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). When you keep your eyes on Him, faith will keep working. Then you will be victorious no matter how terrible the storms, no matter what people say or do, no matter how the devil works. If God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)?
Mary Obeyed
Mary, the mother of Jesus, helped God make one of the greatest miracles. She had learned at a young age how to do that. When the angel of the Lord had appeared unto her and revealed God’s miraculous plan for Jesus to be conceived in her womb, she simply said, Be it unto me according to thy word (Luke 1:38).
Mary didn’t struggle or fall before the Lord crying, “Oh, God, how can this be? I don’t understand.” No. She had no doubt, unbelief or fear of tomorrow. She didn’t worry about what being pregnant without being married meant at that time. She simply resigned herself to the will of God, and God performed the miracle of the Virgin Birth.
At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, He attended a wedding in Cana; and suddenly, a great need presented itself: They had run out of fresh wine. Mary was helping at that wedding feast, and she instructed the servants to go to Jesus; and whatsoever he saith unto you, do it (John 2:5). You help God make a miracle for your life through total obedience to His Word.
Jesus told the servants, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it (John 2:7,8). Those servants could have gotten into a lot of trouble by serving just water to the guests; but thankfully, they didn’t lean to their own human understanding. They didn’t refuse to do what Jesus had said or try to figure things out, and they didn’t question Him. They simply obeyed, and the miracle took place—the water was turned into fresh wine. Total obedience unties God’s hands in your life and helps Him make miracles.
If you’re a child of God who needs a miracle, but it doesn’t seem to be coming your way, check your life. Is there any disobedience to God’s Word? I don’t mean just sin. A disobedience could be a lack of prayer, not spending enough time in the Word, not obeying the Lord when He calls upon you or neglecting Him in other ways. When you disobey the Lord and His Word in any way, you will hinder God.
A Miracle at Lazarus’ Tomb
When Jesus’ good friend Lazarus became very sick, his two sisters sent for Jesus to come; but Jesus didn’t arrive until four days after Lazarus had died. When Jesus stood before Lazarus’ tomb, He asked for help saying, Take ye away the stone [in front of Lazarus’ tomb] (John 11:39).
Again I say, the Lord needs your cooperation to be able to make a miracle. God expects you to do that which you can do. Then with faith and full assurance, you turn that which you cannot do over to the Lord and let Him take care of it. Hear the voice of Jesus telling you, “Roll away that stone of doubt, disobedience and fear; and I’ll make the miracle for you.”
At Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus told Lazarus’ sister Martha, If thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God (John 11:40). All Jesus expected of her was to believe and receive, but Martha was not fully cooperating with Jesus at that moment. How many miracles had she heard about or seen for herself? How many miracles had she received through Jesus? Martha was leaning to her own understanding, and that can be a hindrance when God is seeking to make a miracle for you because you get in the way of what God is trying to do.
When Jesus asked for the stone to be removed, Martha spoke up and said, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days (John 11:39). But thankfully, she yielded to Jesus and to His will. Then when the stone was rolled away, she beheld God’s glory as Lazarus walked out of that tomb alive.
The Widow Woman Believed Elijah
The Bible tells us in I Kings 17 that there was a severe famine in the land of Israel. God instructed Elijah the prophet to go to Zarephath where he would find a certain widow woman. Elijah obeyed; and when he found the woman, she was gathering sticks to make a fire and prepare one last cake for her and her son. Then they would prepare to die.
All the woman had was a little bit of oil and a handful of meal; but Elijah told her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days (I Kings 17:13-15).
That woman was on the verge of starvation, and her faith was being severely tested. She could have given in to fear and doubt and simply disobeyed the man of God, or she could have resented God and His prophet for making such a request; but she didn’t. Instead, she humbly obeyed.
The woman completely yielded herself to the Word of God, and God provided a miracle of supply for her and her household. And the [woman’s] barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail [for the rest of the famine], according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:16). That story illustrates that God does not need a strong economy to provide for His people. He only needs obedience to His Word.
God Will Supply
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Notice that verse says ALL your needs. The Lord wants you to put your faith into operation and help Him make a miracle in your life just like the widow woman did. He wants you to bake Him a cake first, so to speak; and He will take care of your needs.
The Lord promised in His Word, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10).
The tenth of all you earn or is given to you is holy unto the Lord. When you fail to tithe and give to Him, it’s a disobedience. You tie God’s hands and shut up the windows of Heaven upon your life. God is not shutting the windows; your disobedience is.
Today, God is as faithful to His Word as He was in Bible days, so prove Him and help Him perform the miraculous in your life. God can make your ninety percent go further than you can make one hundred percent go. He will bless you with Heaven’s window-open blessings spiritually, physically and financially.
Let God Use What You Have
In the book of Exodus, Moses was called of God to deliver the Israelites from 400 years of Egyptian bondage. But Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt (Exodus 3:11)?
When Moses had stood before the burning bush, God had asked him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it (Exodus 4:2,3). Then God told Moses to pick it up. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand (Exodus 4:4). By that rod and Moses’ obedience, Moses helped God perform the miraculous. Shortly after, Israel was delivered from four hundred years of Egyptian slavery.
Learn a lesson from Moses and be willing to use whatever you have for the Lord. It might not seem like much in your eyes; but through obedience to God, the Lord can do much with it. Give the Lord your time, your energy and your talents. Let Him direct you to help lead people out of Satan’s bondage just as He used Moses to lead the children of Israel out.
The Lord said, And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing (Isaiah 10:27). The Lord’s anointings can do great things for you; but God has to have your cooperation through prayer, fasting and living in His Word.
Be Alert and Watching
Jesus said, This [delivering] kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29). Prayer and fasting are required for the anointings of God to work in your life. You must treasure them and let your Jesus light shine as you work to build the Lord’s Kingdom every day. We have only a limited number of days left to bring in the harvest of souls.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds; but we do know that Jesus said, Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come (Matthew 24:42). He also said, Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them (Luke 12:37).
It is not enough to receive the knowledge and the will of God for your life; you must be anointed for service and present yourself as a daily sacrifice before the Lord. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).
You must leave behind everything that would come between you and your Lord. Unload all your unnecessary burdens and the problems you cannot solve. Jesus declared, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Then you will be free in mind and spirit to carry the burden for lost souls.
Receive the Miracle of Salvation
Friend, if there is any sin in your life today, help God make the greatest miracle for you—the miracle of salvation. The Bible says, If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). It doesn’t matter how long you have lived in sin or how many sins you have committed. Through the power in the divine blood of Jesus, you can be cleansed and born again on the inside. This miracle is for all who will believe, but you must do your part: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
Call on the Lord and receive this miracle right now. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:10). Believe in your heart and make your confession before God in all love and humility and believe that the power in the blood will produce in you the born-again experience.
Say this prayer with me: Oh, God. I confess all of my sins before you. Forgive me. I’m so sorry for failing you, but I have come home; and I will serve you for the rest of my life. I believe there is power in the divine blood of Jesus to wash away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Amen.
Friend, if you meant that prayer, the miracle of salvation is yours.
Receive a Miraculous Deliverance
When Jesus shed His blood, it was a two-fold atonement—salvation for the soul and healing for the body—so you can have the miracle or healing you need. Jesus spent the majority of His ministry on Earth delivering people from sickness and affliction, proving to us today that the will of God is for us to be made whole. It doesn’t matter what sickness or affliction you have or how long you’ve had it. The cure is in the divine blood of Jesus. Help God make the miracle by putting all of your trust in the Word and letting Him do what no other power can do.
Lord, in the name of Jesus, I bring those who are sick in body to you. Maybe medicine can do nothing for their case, but you specialize in such cases; and the miraculous is done through the power in the blood of your Son, Jesus. Lord, lay a healing hand upon each one. In the holy, blood name, heal! Heal! Let your divine virtue flow to each person, and make them well for your honor and glory. In the blood name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Now, Friend, let the Lord make you well; and give Him all the honor, the praise and the glory for every improvement. Let the Lord make you a witness of His miracles in your life and let us know what God has done for you. We will rejoice in the Lord with you.
