All Things Are Possible When You Believe
by Ernest Angley

All things are possible with God if you believe with divine faith. That kind of faith is “big faith,” but Jesus called human faith “little faith”; and He always rebuked the disciples for using it. Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith (Matthew 8:26)? O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves (Matthew 16:8)?
The Lord expects us to use divine faith, and you can’t please God without it. Without [divine] faith it is impossible to please him [God] (Hebrews 11:6). Why? Because human faith is weak. It doesn’t have the strength or the healing power you need. It doesn’t have the peace of mind and the wisdom of God you need.
Peter and some of the other disciples were out on the sea during a horrible storm. They were fishermen and experienced on the water, but they were scared. Then suddenly, Jesus came toward them walking on the water amidst those angry waves. At first, they thought it was a spirit; but then Jesus said, It is I; be not afraid (Matthew 14:27), and they knew it was the Master.
Then Peter said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:28,29). Peter stepped off that boat and actually walked on the water. Unfortunately, he didn’t continue walking because he wasn’t using divine faith, and he let fear take him over. As he began to sink, Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:31)?
As members of the bridal company in this last hour, we are walking the waters of this life with the Lord; and we must stay on top. God wants to work in unbelievable ways, so we must continue moving forward with Him.
Use Divine Faith and Love
The faith of God gives you great intelligence and unbelievable strength. It has wonderful sight that can see afar off, and it enables you to see your tomorrows when the Lord gets ready to reveal them. Divine faith takes you right to the throne of God without any doubt or fear. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Divine faith has all you need.
To have and use divine faith, you must have divine love. Without that love, the Bible says you are nothing in God’s eyes. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity [love], I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity [love], I am nothing (I Corinthians 13:1,2). God’s faith and love work together, so you can’t have one without the other.
Have No Doubt
The Bible tells of a father who took his son to Jesus to be delivered from what today we would call epilepsy; and the father told Jesus, If thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us (Mark 9:22). Jesus threw that “if” right back at him and said, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (Mark 9:23,24). Then Jesus completely delivered that boy.
If you want God to move for you, you can’t have any doubt. Jesus said, Only believe (Mark 5:36). You can only believe as God expects you to through divine faith. It is so important that you have that faith that the Bible tells us to contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3). Hebrews 11 is known as the faith chapter; and in it, you will find many things God did for those saints of old.
“Believe” is such a small word, yet many people wrestle with it more than they do any other word. You have to believe in God and what He can do with all your heart. Then you have to hold on to it. Just as Jacob wrestled with an angel all night long and would not let it go, you can never let go of your believing. If you do, doubt will take over.
Believe the Word
Not only do you have to believe, you also have to know what and when to believe. God promises us miracles and healings, but some of you won’t set your time to be healed. Instead, you keep thinking, “I’ll get healed someday.” But the Word says, With his (Jesus’) stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Notice the word “are.” It does not say sometime in the far future.
You have to base your faith on the Word; and the Word says, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). You have to know what God said, but too many people listen to what others say and base their beliefs on that. It’s sad because what people say is so undependable, but what God says is completely dependable.
The Word tells us that it was written by holy men who were moved upon by the Holy Ghost. For the prophecy [the Word] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (II Peter 1:21). It also says, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (II Timothy 3:16). Either you believe the Bible is the Word of God or you don’t. You can’t pick and choose what you think is right and what you think is not.
If you don’t accept the whole Word of God, your faith will be very weak or even nonexistent. That is what’s wrong with much of the Christian church today. They have mixed so much doubt in with their faith that their faith is very weak and doesn’t do much. God promised to stand by what He says, not what people say. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good (Numbers 23:19)?
Give Satan the Word
When the devil tormented Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus didn’t argue or debate with him; He simply said. It is written (Matthew 4:4). Jesus gave the devil what was written in the Word three different times. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season (Luke 4:13).
You too can get rid of Satan, not with what others say but with what God says in the Word. Jesus came to Earth to be our example, and that lesson was for us. You can learn so much from the life Jesus lived on Earth.
Unfortunately, too many people argue with the devil or try to reason with him. Instead of just giving him scripture every time he comes around, they try to run him off with their own words or reasoning; and that never works. The devil takes note of every word you say. Then he goes over and over it trying to find a crack to get into you.
You must build a hedge of blood around yourself filled with the promises of God. The devil will never be able to penetrate a hedge like that, and he can’t destroy even one of the promises of God. The Lord gave them many thousands of years ago, and they are still alive today through the Holy Spirit in your heart.
Make Satan Flee
When you need to claim a promise from God, plant the associated scripture or scriptures in your mind and let them run over and over. It can’t be just repetition, or it will do you no good. You have to believe that promise; claim it with all your heart, and let it penetrate your innermost being. Then the Lord will have something to work with.
You may ask, “How do I know when I’m saying it from my heart?” Well, as you begin to repeat it from your heart, you’ll sense a change coming over you because when the Word gets into your heart, it begins to destroy fear, doubt, unbelief or anything else that may be hindering you. Then you will know it’s coming from your heart and not just your head.
So many times, people will repeat, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7) and expect the devil to run; but if it doesn’t come from your heart, the devil will not move. Yes, you have ammunition, but you’re not using it the right way. The Word of God can penetrate just like a bullet, but you have to aim it in the right direction and shoot it with all the power and authority of the Lord. Then the devil will move quickly.
When you rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus from your heart, that means you know the power in that name is yours to use. It’s the same power Jesus used when He was on Earth; and He said, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18). None of us can comprehend all of that power with our human minds, but you must know it’s enough to protect you and defeat Satan in your life.
Empty of Self
Some of you have more fear in your life than faith; but the Bible says, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18).
The Word can only do it’s perfect work when you empty up of self; but so many times, there are things in our hearts that hinder the Word from moving as it needs to. You have weakened the Word in you because it is surrounded by other things that conflict with it or overwhelm it. They may not be sinful, but they prevent the Word from doing its perfect work.
That is why fasting is so important. It brings self under subjection and cleans everything out of your heart that should not be there. You can’t have any carnal thinking or ideas in your mind or heart. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be (Romans 8:7). When you can get self out of the way and put faith into action, the Word will rise up and come to life in your heart just as fresh as the day God gave it.
Know God’s Way
You have to know the will of God for you before you can believe with all your heart. When Lazarus died, his sister Martha didn’t know God’s plan or His will for that situation. Instead, she accused Jesus saying, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died (John 11:21). Martha didn’t have the written Word as we do, and she didn’t know it was the Lord’s will for Lazarus to come forth before the resurrection of the righteous.
When Jesus said, Thy brother shall rise again (John 11:23), Martha believed that with what she knew and said, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day (John 11:24). Martha had amazing faith in Jesus, but she had some wrong believing that hindered her.
Jesus tried to get through to Martha again saying, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world (John 11:25-27).
When you aren’t sure how to pray or believe about a certain situation, don’t give in to thoughts of doubt, fear or confusion. You can always tell yourself, “Lord, I believe you are the Son of God.” There is power in that statement that will center your mind on the Lord and keep you in His presence until you can believe what He wants you to. Believing is the secret to receiving from the Lord; but if you continue to focus your thoughts on the troubling situation, it will just get bigger and bigger. Then God will no longer have your attention.
Many Christians know it’s God’s will to save people, but they don’t really believe it’s God’s will to heal. They may point out that the Bible says, It is appointed unto men once to die (Hebrews 9:27). Yes, but it doesn’t say a person has to die with some awful disease. Some people wonder why they are not receiving more from the Lord, and it’s because they are looking more at their problems and diseases than they are at God. They are looking at what man says instead of what God says.
God’s Word says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (III John 1:2). That’s the will of God for our bodies. Do you believe that? God will be right by your side to help you with whatever you need if you will only believe.
